Dad's Hat Distillery
Distilling A Spirited Dream Into Whiskey Business
For Dad’s Hat Distillery Founder Herman Mihalich, the seeds of his life’s passion were sowed in his Pittsburgh-area roots. It was there, growing up in an apartment above his family’s Monessen, Pennsylvania bar, where he would experience the sights, sounds and stories that would never leave him.

Building a business from the ground up is a difficult task, no matter the product or service. So when the crew at Dad's Hat Distillery, a Bucks County based start-up founded in 2010, approached Signature for help with nothing less than resurrecting Pennsylvania’s once-proud whiskey-making heritage, we jumped at the chance to build a brand identity from the ground up.

The first step was getting up close and personal with founders, Herman Mihalich and John Cooper. Raised in working-class families dedicated to classic values, both came from an environment that would later help fuel a desire to rekindle a lost Keystone State tradition. The idea for the Dad’s Hat brand came from Herman who wore his father’s old Fedora hats. To us, they symbolized optimism, hard work and the American dream. And, as we say in our marketing, Dad’s Hat is “The Perfect Fit.”

The Strategy

From visual identity to product design, web development and a variety of unique merch, Signature helped the Dad’s Hat brand go from two college friends with a vision to a top shelf market presence that's always ready to shake things up.

The Results

Today, with multiple varieties, limited editions and a range of creative spirits available in stores, bars and restaurants across the country and Europe, the Dad’s Hat Distillery is the toast of the whiskey-drinking public.
